Denver

In 2022 Denver adopted Passive House certification for both residential and commercial buildings, allowing for use of Passive House energy models for code compliance. However, it is an alternative compliance pathway, not mandatory.

Massachusetts

Starting in 2023, jurisdictions adopting the Massachusetts opt-in stretch code will require Passive House Certification for large Multifamily buildings for code compliance. The mandate is part of a shift in focus away from overall EUI as the key indicator of building performance, toward Thermal Energy Demand Intensity or TEDI.

New York State

New York provided an Overlay of 2018 code allowing for Passive House alternate compliance pathway for 1 and 2 family dwellings, including energy calculations.

Washington State

Effective January 2020, the 2018 Code update provides Passive House alternative compliance pathway, including energy models, for single-family residential buildings.
