Introduction to the Passive House Standard

Passive House goals and methodology change the way architects and builders think and work, making the architectural design itself a driver of climate, health, and social solutions. This is a 4-hour course that dives into the basic principles, history, certification, and the new frontiers of Passive House design as it continues to challenge and change industry expectations. All theory is then illustrated through several case studies outlining specific Passive House principles.

Introduction to Passive House Trades

The Introduction to Passive House Trades will broadly cover the following topics: Passive House basics, review typical construction types, windows and installation, air barriers and insulation and new, innovative PH products. It is crucial when working on Passive House buildings to properly install components, understand how to correctly implement design details and assess and plan for the current and future performance of the building. This live online course is accompanied by mini video tutorials for various PH product installations, plus incorporates actual building of Passive House details relevant to the US construction industry.

Passive House Retrofits: Part 1

Passive House standards are not just for new construction. Existing structures can benefit from upgrading airtightness, insulation, reducing thermal bridging, upgrading to high performance doors and windows, and adding energy recovery ventilation. Applying the passive house standards to existing structure however, has its own unique challenges.

In this course, you’ll review the passive house standards and take a closer look at how they apply to retrofitting existing buildings, as well as the EnerPHit certifications for building with successful retrofits.

Passive House Windows

The Passive House Windows is a specialty course within The Passive House Network’s educational offerings. This course you will be introduced to the history of windows and what makes Passive House windows unique, plus learn how to design and detail windows, look at Passive House window calculations, and how to install Passive House windows.

In this course, you’ll explore the passive house principle of high-performance windows in depth, discover how Passive House windows affect comfort, calculate the relationship between windows and thermal bridges, check energy balances and look at case studies throughout the course.

Note:

Passive House Windows is a 4 part course.

In the On-Demand version, each individual course can be taken independently, or take all 4 at a discount price.

Live-Online and In-Person Sessions include all 4 parts of the Passive House Windows course.
